Bicep Workouts For The Best Shape Possible

By bicepworkouts · Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Bicep workouts are one of the most “important” aspects of a guy’s physique. Simply because when someone talks about a “muscle bound” individual, the first place that most people look at is their biceps. To be more accurate, the actual muscle is called the biceps brachii or bicep of the arm, as there is a corresponding muscle in your leg called the biceps femora. Unless you specify the latter, however, just about everyone takes the word “biceps” to mean the muscle in your upper arm.

Getting those biceps in shape is many people’s first priority in body building. There are many ways to go about this, and some controversy over which is the best way to do it. Just about the only thing that can be said with certainty is that different people have different approaches which suit them.

The more popular form of bicep workouts, going on the opinions of almost anyone you ask, involves lifting weights. Even within this category, there are different types of weights to lift. Free weights, like dumbbells, are particularly popular as they allow a certain amount of freedom while exercising. Alternatively you can work at a weights machine which can be set up to specifically work the muscle groups you feel you need to build. Whichever way you choose to go, the important thing is to keep your workouts light at first and ease into bigger weights. You may feel like proving something by going straight to the bigger weight, but you are far more likely to tear a muscle and not be able to lift anything for a while.

Not all bicep workouts involve lifting weights, however. There are other ways, and for the person recovering from an injury or someone who wants to ease themselves in, there are plenty of ways to get the muscles working. These also work as a form of warm up before the main event, allowing you to stretch the muscles and get some air into them before they are made to do heavy duty work. Without doing this you risk injury and are less likely to take it up again upon recovery. Remember to play to your strengths and you will be fine.
